I agree with you about commercial grade pvc rainwear that is 100 percent waterproof. I have commercial grade pvc rainwear from a company called carhartt. I use mine to keep me dry in nasty downpours.

How hot is it to wear all day in the rain?

Penn reels are absolute workhorses. I use my 3000 for salt water in the summer for Wrasse and pollock and Pike in the winter. The thing hasn’t given me a single problem ever, I’ve had it for 2 years and not a single birds nest or anything. If you’re proper into fishing and want a good mid to high range reel I couldn’t recommend anything better honestly.
